I am Vineeta Kevat, 32 years old. I have not studied in school. Earlier, I used to work as a labourer. I started falling ill after going out for work. Now, I do not go to work. Our household expenses are now covered by farming labour and growing vegetables. I have three daughters.
Earlier, I was very sad that I did not have a son. This made me very upset; I thought it was necessary to have a son.
Initially, I did not know about the organization (Grameen Swalamban Samiti). When I came to know about it, I joined through the group. Now, I appreciate that the organization provides information to us poor women and benefits us as well.
The organization helped me get my BPL card made and explained the importance of having proper documents. They told me that if I wanted to avail government benefits, I should have all the necessary papers. The organization also provided me with the benefits of Laili Lakshmi.
Now, I believe that there should be no difference between sons and daughters. Didi repeatedly explains to people that they should not be sad about not having a son. They have daughters, educate them well. They are your support. Now, I feel that when injustice is done to you, you should not remain silent; you should raise your voice. If girls are exploited at home or outside, it must be opposed. We also have to provide information to poor families so they can benefit too.
Women in the village should raise their voices in unity so that no exploitation or wrongdoing can happen to them.
