No shame around menstruation

My name is Sandhya. I am 19 years old. There are 5 people in my family. I am in third year of my BA. I am a member of Bal Panchayat since 2019.

Gramin Swavlamban Samiti of Bal Panchayat educates us about child rights, POSCO act, domestic violence, cybercrime and the education of poor children.

Earlier, I believed that if girls experience molestation, she often is asked to keep mum because ultimately, it’s believed that girls will be shamed.

Girls will be untouchable during the menstruation period. Being more vocal for girls is not good. A girl’s being outside the home is often perceived as a reflection of her character not being morally good.

Now, I believe that if any form of exploitation and discrimination occurs towards me or any other girl, I will stand up and protest against it.

I openly speak up about menstruation and also take care of menstrual hygiene during my menstrual period.

I used to ask my brother to assist in domestic work too and also used to be aware that everyone should share the household work.

Whenever a girl discontinued her schooling or was stopped from attending school, I used to ask her family to let her continue her schooling.
