I am Babita Jha, 38 years old, and I work in farming and labor. My husband died in a road accident. Previously, both my husband and I used to go out for labor work. Now I work in the village itself. I have two children, a boy and a girl.
When I went out for work, a nephew from my family would come to my house and misbehave with my daughter. One day, my daughter told me about it. I tried to make him understand, but he did not listen.
I regularly received legal information from Rajesh, a community volunteer from the Grameen Swalamban Samiti. Then, I told that boy about the law and threatened to file a complaint. He got scared, came to my feet, and started crying. His parents apologized. Now, he doesn’t come to my house, and if he sees me somewhere, he walks away with his head down.
The organization has provided me with information about rural schemes. With the support of the community volunteer, I have obtained an e-Shram card, ration card, Ayushman card, and gas connection, all of which I am benefiting from. Now, my children live fearlessly at home and continue their studies.
I believe that when someone does something wrong, even if they are a family member, action should be taken against them. My message to everyone is not to impose restrictions on girls but to help them move forward.
