I am Harishankar Ahirwar, 45 years old and have studied till the 10th standard only. We have 4 members in the house and everyone does agriculture and daily wage labour. Since long, Gramin Swavlamban Samiti is working in my village. When they used to invite for the meeting, I thought that “How would it benefit us.” So, I avoided the meeting and also didn’t allow the house members to go for the meeting.
In 2021, my family was travelling to Tikamgarh by bike but unfortunately they met with an accident with a truck. As I got the information, I immediately, took the help of the organisation. First, they helped in the legal process and then got the truck seized. I was shocked. All my work was done by the people of the organisation. Then we got 4 lakh rupees as compensation also. Now, court cases are still going on and the organisation is providing full support for it.
At that time I felt had I not got an Ayushman card or a Sambhal card then I would not have been able to register the legal case against the truck driver and wouldn’t have been eligible for compensation. That time I realised how much documents are important.
