About Us

Our Details

Grameen Swavlamban Samiti is a non-governmental organization which works in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The organization is registered under the Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act. The organization works with exploited social groups for their rights. GSS works with the Dignity Centre in villages, bal panchayats, women’s groups, and migrant workers for their safety and security. GSS works for gender justice, access to government schemes for the poor, child rights, women’s protection laws, demanding justice for the oppressed, making education accessible to poor girls, and adolescent health care so that they can be empowered.

Keeping in mind the Sustainable Development Goals set by the Government of India, GSS is working to increase awareness in the community so that gender discrimination can be prevented and the poor section of the community can benefit from government schemes alongside seeking legal action against those who exploit and commit injustice.

There are many challenges ahead for GSS where we need to work. Among these are a paucity of resources for carrying out work effectively, increasing power of influential people in the region, and dependency of poor people upon the rich in the rural economy, due to which they prefer silence over discrimination and oppression. The organization believes that for the development of deprived social groups, there should be projects supporting them so that their socio-economic upliftment can be achieved and they can unitedly work for justice.

Our Vision

Our Mission

GSS aims to end violence against women and children and to facilitate safe migration and improve social and economic conditions for marginalized groups.
